Curricular activity

Ryazan State Medical University includes 8 departments and more than 50 sub-departments.

At the moment the University trains specialists for medical and research institutions in Russia and more than 60 countries of Europe, CIS, Asia and Africa.

More than 5 000 students study at University at the moment.

There are many different educational programs: 9 specialties of higher professional education, 88 specialties of postgraduate studies and 3 programs of secondary professional education.

The clinical base of the University is used to teach and improve practical skills. The base consists of more than 30 local and regional modern medical and preventive institutions and drugstores, national health resorts.

Clinical sub-departments are equipped with modern diagnostic and therapy tools that let students learn using the latest technologies.

Such innovative methods and training tools as problematic and complex lectures, evidence-based medicine, distant and interactive learning, e-textbooks and multimedia sources are widely used in the educational process.

Scientific activity

The University contributes to the regional healthcare system by taking part in regional and local scientific-research programs dedicated to drug abuse prevention, prevention and treatment of arterial hypertension, oncological, renal, urological pathologies, etc.

The University cooperates with a number of enterprises and firms specializing in producing medical equipment and drugs.

Medical activity

Medical activity is one of the main focus areas of the University.

Since its foundation the idea to integrate theory and practice has been carried out.

Traditional methods of learning by examining patients are combined with modern education technologies. At the moment clinical sites of the University are equipped with roentgen, angiographic, tomographic diagnostic units, a powerful laboratory branch, a division of medical genetics, a branch of functional, endoscopic and ultrasound diagnostics.

The University contributes to practical healthcare with the research work done at the laboratory-diagnostic complex on the basis of the Central scientific-research laboratory. The laboratory has unique equipment and highly qualified personnel. The results of the researches conducted in this laboratory are essential for patient diagnostics and treatment.

There is a program of improving University teachers` and students` health. According to this program students have annual medical checks and all the employees –fluorography examinations.

In summer students and personnel can have a rest and restore their health after an academic year at the University resort «Здоровье».

Extracurricular work

Traditionally extracurricular work is an essential aspect of higher education.

Synchronous professional and personal development is necessary for a would-be-doctor.

Realization of personal creative potential helps to cultivate in students such traits of character as justice, kindness and passion about their work.

Transmitting cultural heritage and creating a knowledgeable society have become goals of higher education. Being developed in the environment based on humanistic values is important for a doctor-to-be.

Taking into consideration all the above the University sets itself the following objectives:

  1. To develop universal human values and the feeling of civil responsibility in students, to teach them to be tolerant;
  2. To discover creative potential of every student, to motivate them to take initiative, to create conditions for healthy lifestyle and physical education;
  3. To develop a positive attitude to labor, to enable students to socialize and adapt in the labor-market, to teach to respect the law and estimate their behavior objectively.

The main activity area of the department:

  1. Marketing work to enroll foreign citizens in University to take a preparatory course, full-time training, retraining and clerkship;
  2. Foreign student enrollment campaign organization and escort of foreign students who come to the University for the first time;
  3. Paperwork for foreign entrants, students and graduates of the University;
  4. Assistance in invitation and visa issue, registering foreign citizens who come to the University to take full-time training or do shirt-term clerkship;
  5. Organization and implementation of academic mobility programs for teachers and students of the university;
  6. Conducting correspondence and telephone negotiations with embassies of the Russian Federation to foreign countries and embassies of foreign states to Russia;
  7. Escort of foreign delegations during official visits to the University;
  8. Extracurricular work with foreign students to help them adapt to new cultural and legal environment.

The University has been performing specialist training for foreign citizens since 1992. Over this period more than 1500 foreign students have become the University graduates. At the moment more than 1000 foreign citizens from 55 countries study here.

The University has gained a lot of experience in teaching with the use of the translation service, which makes it possible for English- and French-speaking people to get education here. Such a specialization as “General Medicine” is available in English.

Foreign students take part in all University events, such as amateur performances, sport competitions, volunteerism, etc. Days of national culture organized by students from different countries are extremely popular at the University. On these days university students get acquainted with traditions, costumes, folklore and traditional dishes of their foreign mates.

ADMISSION

Admission Procedure to Ryazan State Medical University

Necessary documents

  1. An applicant should send the following documents to [email protected]:

Kindly note that the number of places for the first year is strictly limited and all the candidates will pass examinations on a competitive basis.

  1. According to the established admission terms we analyze the documents and inform all the applicants about the assessment results.
  2. For applicants with all the required documents that are filled in and collected correctly we start the procedure of sending electronic invitations (takes about 30 days) to come to the University for entrance examinations.

This procedure is free of charge.

Entrance examinations are:

  • 31.05.01 General Medicine – Chemistry, Biology
  1. If there is any problem with an applicant`s documents we will inform him/her through e-mail.
  2. Having received an invitation letter, an applicant must print it out and contact the Embassy of the Russian Federation to his/her country in order to apply for a student’s visa.
  3. Three days before the flight to the Russian Federation an applicant should send us a copy of a flight ticket. In this case we will be able to organize transfer from an airport to the university.

This procedure is also free of charge.

  1. Having arrived at the University an applicant takes entrance examinations in Chemistry and Biology.
  2. Having passed the entrance examinations successfully an applicant signs a contract for education, provides us with all the necessary documents and becomes a student of our University.
  3. Prices for academic year 2016/2017 are:
  • Preparatory course – 119 280 rubles,
  • General Medicine – 200 700 rubles,

To study on English Medium there is no need to provide us with any certificate proving the level of the applicant’s English language.

  1. Students admitted to our University can be provided with a place at one of the buildings of our University’s  hostel (rooms for 2 or 3 people) for the entire period of their study. Accommodation fee is 30 000 rubles.

REGISTRATION

RULES OF STAY in the Russian Federation for foreign citizens and stateless people coming to study at Ryazan State Medical University in visa regime

A foreign citizen, coming to the Russian Federation according to the invitation to study must have the following documents:

  • a  passport
  • a migration card
  • a valid single entry student visa

Within three days after crossing the border a foreign citizen should report to the International Department to be registered or to get a visa. An applicant should have the following documents with him:

  • the passport
  • 2 copies of all passport pages
  • 1 copy of all filled passport pages
  • the migration card, 3 migration card copies
  • a state fee receipt for visa processing – 1 600 rubles
  • a copy of the contract for educational services
  • the contract for leasing of student hostel accommodation
  • 2 photos
  • a visa application signed by the Dean, the International Department officer and the accountant

In the case of leaving Ryazan foreign students are obliged to inform the Dean`s Office and the International Department about it in the written form not less than one week before the departure. Within three days upon the return to Ryazan foreign students must inform the Dean`s Office and the International Department about their arrival and submit necessary documents to be registered:

  • the passport, a copy of all passport pages
  • 1 migration card copy
  • a copy of the contract for educational services
  • the contract for leasing of student hostel accommodation

45 days before the visa expiry date foreign students should come to the International Department to have their visas extended. The list of documents for visa extension includes:

  • the passport
  • 1 copy of all passport pages
  • 1 copy of all filled passport pages
  • the migration card, 2 migration card copies
  • a state fee receipt for visa processing – 1 600 rubles
  • the  regist ration coupon, 1 registration coupon copy
  • a copy of the contract for educational services
  • the contract for leasing of student hostel accommodation
  • 1 photo
  • a visa application signed by the Dean, the International Department officer and the accountant

Expelled students should leave the Russian Federation within three days after the date of the enrollment termination order issue. Not later than 10 days before the departure they should come to the International Department. Documents for exit visa processing are:

  • the passport
  • 1 copy of all the filled passport pages
  • the registration coupon
  • a copy of a registration coupon
  • the migration card
  • 1 migration card copy
  • an application signed by the Dean, the International Department officer and the accountant
  • a copy of the ticket
  • a copy of the contract for educational services
  • a clearance chit
  • a transit visa fee receipt (1 000 rubles)
